3. The Unseen Mental Health Crisis Among the Displaced

Vote for Cause

Story:
Ahmed is a 17-year-old boy from Syria. His body carries no visible wounds — but inside, his spirit is battered and bleeding. He has seen horrors: homes burning, friends executed, the death of his own brother. He now lives in a tent on the edge of a refugee settlement in Turkey. Nights are the worst. When darkness falls, the memories return, and Ahmed curls into himself, wishing for an end to the haunting voices.

Around him, hundreds of others carry similar invisible scars — but there is no psychologist, no therapist, no safe place to unpack the unbearable weight they carry.

What they desperately need:

  • On-site mental health counselors and therapists
  • Group therapy programs for PTSD and depression
  • Art and music therapy workshops for trauma healing
  • Child-friendly spaces for emotional recovery
  • Emergency crisis hotlines and peer support systems
